Aol.com tells us more about the situation in the American state of Florida, and the same publication reveals that a top doctor even says that the outbreak is worse than monkeypox. That person is Dr. Ulyee Choe, who’s a statewide medical director for the Department of Health of Florida. Meningitis is more severe than monkeypox, as it can be more deadly, according to the doctor. Monkeypox hasn’t killed anyone in the US.
A 25% death rate for meningococcal disease in Florida
Chloe reveals the terrifying numbers of meningococcal disease in Florida. Forty-eight cases of infection with the disease were reported in Florida this year. Twelve patients from those 48 died as a result of the infection, which means a terrifying death rate of almost 25%. That practically means a quarter of the infected people.
Oddly enough, both monkeypox and meningococcal disease appear to spread mainly among gay and bisexual men.
Dr. José R. Romero, who is director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, stated the following in the CDC news release a while ago, as CNN quotes:
