It feels like we’ve been waiting for a really long time for the pandemic to become a thing of the past but judging by all the updated data, we are not even close to putting an end to this chapter in the world’s history!
However, there is some real hope if only humans decide to work together and change their general behavior!
This and more is what CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky shared via CNN regarding a realistic strategy that might end the COVID-19 pandemic so that we can all get back to normal life.
“We have a lot of the needed science right now. We have the vaccines, and what we cannot really predict is human behavior. Human behavior in this pandemic has not served us very well,” she said, according to CNN.
Of course, this requires more citizens to get the vaccine and follow all the safety regulations.
After all, Walensky stressed that getting the shots against the virus in mass will finally lead to stopping it from spreading and mutating further.
“The virus isn’t stupid. It’s going to go there,” she pointed out.
The great news is that it seems like the end of the pandemic is right around the corner at this point.
After all, experts believe that the delta variant could be the last wave to surge for quite a while in the United States since the country is supposedly nearing 90 percent immunity.
This immunity was, of course, achieved either through natural infection and healing or through vaccinations.
Former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Scott Gottlieb, discussed the end of the COVID-19 pandemic in his book titled “Uncontrolled Spread: Why COVID-19 Crushed Us and How We Can Defeat the Next Pandemic” not too long ago.
He said that if there were to be another pandemic in our lifetime, there would most likely be a debate on how to handle and stop the new virus from spreading, as it happened with COVID-19.
“I think that in order to be properly prepared for a next pandemic, we are going to need to empower all public health agencies. We are going to need to build some new capacities at (CDC) and empower them all to act in a public health crisis of this magnitude in the future,” the author writes in his book.
All in all, it sounds like we are approaching a positive change in the current situation and that there is also a silver lining to it all – we might be more prepared for an even more dangerous outbreak if it were to happen in the future.
