At the age of 81 years old, the infectious disease expert has been undergoing treatment with Paxlovid to get rid of his infection with the coronavirus.
Dr. Fauci initially had to face mild symptoms, but his age might have been what caused their intensity to increase.
Dr. Anthony Fauci faces “Paxlovid rebound”
‘Paxlovid rebound’ is the phenomenon that’s been occurring in Dr. Fauci’s case, according to The Hill. The infectious disease expert himself revealed the information while he spoke for a Foreign Policy global health summit that was held a few days ago. After finishing his Paxlovid treatment, the doctor revealed that he tested positive for the coronavirus three days consecutively. But he even tested positive on the fourth day as well, resulting in the ‘Paxlovid rebound’ phenomenon.
Although the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) warned about the possible emergence of ‘rebound’ for Paxlovid patients, it doesn’t mean that a person is infected with the pandemic virus again if they are going through the ‘rebound’ itself.
Here’s a statement that the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases issued a few weeks ago when a rapid antigen test revealed that Anthony Fauci is positive for COVID:
Dr. Fauci will isolate and continue to work from his home. He has not recently been in close contact with President Biden or other senior government officials. Dr. Fauci will follow the COVID-19 guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and medical advice from his physician and return to the NIH when he tests negative.
As for now, Dr. Anthony Fauci started another course of treatment with Paxlovid after reporting feeling “really poorly.” After the rebound, he had been dealing with worse symptoms.
