Some people had gotten vaccinated for COVID thinking that they won’t have to take other precautions anymore. Some of them were reckoning that the pandemic is approaching its end in this way, but the World Health Organization (WHO) is there to practically say “not so fast!”.
The WHO manifested concerns regarding those who got vaccinated for COVID. The agency wants to make people even more aware of the dangers of the virus. UPI.com reveals that the vaccinated ones had developed a false sense of security, according to the WHO.
Vaccination remains a good idea
We must not understand from the WHO’s statements that vaccines aren’t useful. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director General of the agency, confirms that getting vaccinated for COVID remains a good idea, but the vaccines can’t fully prevent the transmission of the coronavirus. He declared, as quoted by the WHO’s official website:
In many countries and communities, we are concerned about a false sense of security that vaccines have ended the pandemic, and that people who are vaccinated do not need to take any other precautions,
If you are vaccinated, you have a much lower risk of severe disease and death, but you are still at risk of being infected, and of infecting others.
Europe has officially become the epicenter of the COVID pandemic. Countries from the old continent are reporting tens of thousands of infections every day. That made the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention render a long list of European countries labeled with the highest risk of COVID infection. Therefore, the roster contains countries such as the UK, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Ukraine, and many more. The CDC says that you should get vaccinated if you need to travel to these countries.
