Fauci warned state leaders against the “risky business” of eliminating public health measures, raising concerns on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” that the nation could see a new surge in cases if it lets its guard down.
Last month, we were revealing that an independent committee “found no increased risk of thrombosis or events characterized by thrombosis among the 21,583 participants receiving at least one dose of the vaccine,” according to AstraZeneca.
But now, things seem to be changing.
AstraZeneca vaccine linked to blood clots
It’s been just revealed that a top European Medicines Agency (EMA) official said in an interview published Tuesday that there is a link between the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine and blood clots.
“In my opinion, we can say it now; it is clear there is a link with the vaccine. But we still do not know what causes this reaction,” Marco Cavaleri, EMA head of vaccines, told Italy’s Il Messaggero newspaper.
He said that “in the next few hours, we will say that there is a connection, but we still have to understand how this happens.”
It’s also worth noting that after a few countries suspended the use of the jab – including Italy – the EMA declared that the benefits outweigh the risks and it should remain in use.
But the agency has said that a causal link between clots and the vaccine is possible – updates are expected this week.
“We are trying to get a precise picture of what is happening, defining in detail this syndrome due to the vaccine,” Cavaleri said.
He added: “Among the vaccinated, there are more cases of cerebral thrombosis… among young people than we would expect.”
