More than 70% of Americans are fully vaccinated, and the FDA approved today the third shot for those with a compromised immune system. At the same time, many states are asking for help as hospitals are overwhelmed with patients suffering severe Covid-19 symptoms. Many businesses have implemented vaccine mandates in an effort to keep the virus away and avoid outbreaks.
Disney and Walmart issues vaccine mandates
A vaccine mandate means that workers who come to the office need to be fully vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Major companies such as Disney, Walmart, the Department of Veteran Affairs, the Pentagon, and many schools have already issued vaccine mandates. California decided to require all teachers and school staff to be fully vaccinated at the state level if they do not want to deal with regular testing and restrictions.
Not all employees are happy with the vaccine mandates.
A recent survey conducted by Qualtrics shows that many people are planning to quit their jobs if their company implements a vaccine mandate. The national survey on more than 1,000 U.S residents working full time and part-time jobs from several industries revealed that 60% of them support the vaccine mandates. The research subjects are people working in different fields such as government, media, education, finance, tech, media, retail, health, etc. The fact that the research involved workers from so many industries shows that vaccination is an issue of national interest.
However, more than 44% of the research subjects declared that they are ready to quit their jobs if they need to follow a vaccine mandate. The most recent survey on the same topic, from March this year, showed that 39% of people would consider quitting their jobs over a vaccine mandate. The vaccination topic is complex and challenging to solve. Companies need many employees to work from the headquarters or on the field, but at the same time, many people feel that it is their right to decide if they want to get vaccinated or not. Nobody expects a national consensus soon.
