It’s been reported that the more contagious variant of the novel coronavirus Omicron is driving the number of confirmed cases in France to over 160k per day last week and over 200k for four consecutive days during the past weekend.
France has become the sixth country in the world to report over 10 million covid 19 infections since the outbreak of the pandemic – this is according to official data.
France 24 notes the following:
“The tidal wave has indeed arrived, it’s enormous, but we will not give in to panic.”
This is what the Health Minister Olivier Véran told parliament.
It’s also been revealed that in a fresh effort to combat Covid transmission, French MPs on Monday started to debate draft legislation that would require most people to be vaccinated against the novel coronavirus before entering public spaces.
It’s also been revealed that the bill would make it mandatory for people to show proof of being vaccinated.
According to the reports, there’s no need for just a negative Covid test or proof that one has recovered from coronavirus to access public venues and transport.
Emanuel Macron about the unvaccinated
It’s also been revealed that during an interview with Le Parisien that has been published on Tuesday, President Emmanuel Macron said that he wanted to severely limit the access unvaccinated people had to social events, and he also vowed to make life difficult for them.
“As for those who are unvaccinated, I really want to piss them off,” he said.
He continued and said the following:
“And so we will continue to do so, until the end. That is the strategy.”
