Covid 19, Cold, Flu – How To Spot the Differences?

CNN just dropped a piece about how one can spot the differences between an ordinary cold, the flu, or the terrible covid 19. Check out some interesting reports about the symptomatology of the three diseases.

As CNN notes, the illnesses all share some pretty similar symptoms, and this can sometimes make it hard to distinguish which one someone is suffering from.
CNN also made sure to note the fact that the case rates of Covid-19 have been on the rise as the Omicron variant has spread.

On the other hand, it’s also extremely important to note the fact that hospitalization numbers appear to be staying relatively low.

For vaccinated people, evidence suggests that infection with this variant seems less likely to be severe.

The same article notes that epidemiologist and former Detroit Health Department executive director, Dr. Abdul El-Sayed said that especially for vaccinated people

“The important thing to remember is a vaccine is like giving a ‘be on the lookout’ call to your immune system. So its capacity to identify, target and destroy viruses is so much higher every time we take another boost of the vaccine,” El-Sayed said.

He continued and said the following:

“It makes sense that the symptoms you would experience are milder if you have been vaccinated.”

He also  made sure to highlight the fact that infections should be taken seriously:

“Just because the per-individual risk of severe illness may be lower, that doesn’t mean on a societal level Omicron doesn’t pose a real risk.”

CDC drops news about isolation time

CNN just noted that the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday shortened the recommended times that people should isolate when they’ve tested positive for Covid-19.

The time dropped from 10 days to five days if they don’t have symptoms and if they wear a mask around others for at least five more days.
