The coronavirus vaccines have been making headlines all over the place. They have been praised a lot, but they have also been surrounded by all kinds of controversies.
Now, the booster shots are in the spotlight.
CNN just noted that the vaccine advisers to the US FDA declined the other to recommend the agency approve Covid 19 booster doses for everyone.
Covid 19 booster shots are not for everyone
According to the same popular website, they did recommend a more limited step: emergency use authorization for people 65 and older, and for people at high risk of severe infection.
It’s important to note the fact that they also added in health care workers and other people at high risk of getting infected at work.
More than that, it’s been reported a really interesting statement coming from a relevant person.
“The stated goal of this vaccine has been to protect against serious illness.”
This is what Dr. Paul Offit, a professor of pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, told the meeting.
“Data shows that these vaccines do exactly that. It’s exactly what you’d expect.”
Experts are also saying that there is not enough evidence to support getting booster shots for everyone.
“It is my opinion that we need this in our armamentarium — a booster dose now, particularly for the elderly and (those with) other high-risk conditions — but I share my colleagues’ angst about the sparsity of safety data.”
This is what Dr. Mark Sawyer, a professor of clinical pediatrics at the University of California San Diego said.
Refusing the covid vaccine

CNN notes that following this move, it’s time for all governments across the country to mandate the vaccine for people taking part in indoor activities.
“There are no more valid excuses for not being vaccinated other than health reasons,” CNN notes.
