Tucker Carlson-Putin Interview: The Resurfacing Of Zelenskyy And Trudeau’s Standing Ovation To A Ukraine Nazi In The Canadian Parliament

A few days ago, Tucker Carlson finally posted his interview with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. Among various important issues, one that holds an important significance was brought up – the moment when Justin Trudeau invited a former Nazi to the Canadian parliament alongside Zelenskyy.

Hitler is dead, but nazism lingers

Putin brought up how Zelenskyy and Trudeau gave a standing ovation to a Nazi in the Canadian Parliament and said that Western Media has been censoring this.

“The President of Ukraine visited Canada. This story is well known but being silenced in the Western countries… The President of Ukraine stood up with the entire parliament of Canada and applauded this man (Nazi). How can this be?”

Back in September 2023, Al-Jazeera reported that the Canadian parliament’s speaker said ‘deeply sorry’ for honoring Yaroslav Hunka, 98, during Zelenskyy’s visit to Ottawa.

The Speaker of Canada’s House of Commons, Anthony Rota, apologized for praising a person who had served in a Nazi unit during World War II. The incident happened at a session attended by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Speaker acknowledged Yaroslav Hunka, a 98-year-old who served in the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS, as a “Ukrainian hero and a Canadian hero.” However, a Jewish human rights group named Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center demanded an apology as they found it inappropriate to praise someone who was associated with a Nazi unit.

During a parliament session, Hunka was acknowledged by both Zelenskyy and Trudeau with applause. However, the center claimed that Hunka had ties to the Nazi war machine that are well-documented. Rota took responsibility for what he characterized as an oversight and called the initiative entirely his own.

“I have subsequently become aware of more information which causes me to regret my decision,” he said in a statement on Sunday, offering his “deepest apologies to Jewish communities in Canada and around the world”.

He reiterated his apology on Monday in Parliament, telling Canadian lawmakers that he was “deeply sorry” for his gesture and remarks.

“I would also like to add that this initiative was entirely my own,” Rota said. “No one, including you – my fellow parliamentarians – or the Ukraine delegation was privy to my remarks prior to their delivery.”

During his visit to the Canadian Parliament, Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to Canada for its support in Ukraine’s fight against Russia.

After his speech, Rota, the Speaker of the House of Commons, acknowledged Hunka, who was present in the gallery. Hunka was praised for his efforts in fighting for Ukrainian independence against the Russians.

The Canadian lawmakers gave Hunka two standing ovations while Zelenskyy raised his fist in acknowledgment, and Hunka saluted.

“At a time of rising anti-Semitism and Holocaust distortion, it is incredibly disturbing to see Canada’s parliament rise to applaud an individual who was a member of a unit in the Waffen-SS – a Nazi military branch responsible for the murder of Jews and others,” the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center said in a statement.

“An explanation must be provided as to how this individual entered the hallowed halls of Canadian parliament and received recognition from the Speaker of the House and a standing ovation.”

Russia’s RIA state news agency cited Russia’s ambassador to Canada, Oleg Stepanov, as saying the embassy will send a letter to Trudeau and a note to the Canadian foreign ministry.

“We will, of course, demand clarification from the Canadian government,” Stepanov was quoted as saying at the time.

A few days ago, Rebel News CEO Ezra Levant discussed how Justin Trudeau provided Vladimir Putin with a propaganda victory by celebrating a former Nazi in Parliament.
