Today, Julian Assange Was Granted Permission To Appeal Extradition To The US

The other day, I was reporting that Julian Assange was expecting a decision in his case in the UK. Now, a decision has been made and it looks like he has been granted permission to appeal to the extradition to the US.

Julian Assange receives permission to appeal extradition to the US

The other day, WikiLeaks shared the following post on X:

In January 2021, District Judge Vanessa Baraitser prevented Julian Assange’s extradition from the UK, citing concerns about his mental health. This decision was made after the organization DeclassifiedUK pointed out that extradition would be oppressive. However, the US was allowed to appeal the decision, and Chief Justice Ian Burnett ultimately overturned Baraitser’s ruling.

Burnett accepted US assurances about Assange’s treatment, but it’s worth noting that he was a close friend of the British minister who orchestrated Assange’s seizure in April 2019.

Jennifer Robinson, Assange’s lawyer in Britain since his legal troubles began, said:

“The US did not dispute the medical findings, so the medical conclusion and evidence still remains the same, which is, if he’s extradited to isolating conditions, he will be caused to commit suicide.”

Today, Assange received permission to appeal this extradition to the US:

The London High Court has just ruled that Julian Assange will be allowed to appeal his extradition to the United States. He’s faced 5 years in Belmarsh Prison for the crime of publishing information the exposed war crimes.

The same information the mainstream media published and has not been punished for, as this is not about “espionage.” This is about silencing anyone who questions the narrative and publishes information the government doesn’t like or benefit from.
