Niantic has announced that they will make some changes to the legendary gym battles in Pokémon Go. It seems that the developer had some issues with the last changes they have made. Here is what they wrote in a blog post:
‘With the latest batch of EX Raid Battle invites, we implemented a few changes to improve Trainer and Gym selection.’
But these changes introduced by mistake a bug that was welcomed by many players. Guess why:
‘A bug was introduced when these changes were made, and, as a result, some Trainers were invited to participate in an EX Raid Battle at a Gym they may not have visited in several months’
Not only did this confuse a lot of players, but it also meant that many of those who realized it was a bug surely have exploited it. Who would be annoyed to get invitations to join EX Raid battles when they’re thousands miles away from gyms that they’ve probably visited on a vacation?
As soon as they could, Niantic fixed this issue and the next set of invitations for EX Raid battles will be accurate and no longer confuse players.
Two Major Tweaks in EX Raid Battles
The same blog post informing the public about the bug contained details on two important tweaks that will change a few things in the game.
The EX Raid Battles will keep on taking place in parks and sponsored locations, the good news is that ‘the number of Gyms that meet the necessary criteria for an EX Raid Battle will increase. Additionally, the average number of Trainers invited per Gym will also rise, as we’ve made a few tweaks to the way they are selected.’
Players that have high-level gym badges will surely get a pass to join EX Raid Battles and the game will also consider how many Raid battles those players have completed in the week before the EX Raid battle. But even if those players meet the criteria, it doesn’t mean that they will be guaranteed an invitation for an EX Raid. This means that catching Mewtwo will be very difficult, as the chances for entering the EX Raid are very slim.
