As the number of COVID-19 deaths has reached 1000 per day in the United States, more and more experts have begun to talk about the necessity of getting the vaccine. Medical Analyst Dr. Leana Wen compared people who do not vaccinated to those who drive while intoxicated.
“From a public health perspective, it is not overreach at all. And in fact, I wish that they came out earlier and went even further. We’re in the middle of the biggest public health crisis of our lifetimes. We have more than a thousand Americans who are dying every single day. We, as a society, set laws that protect people’s health and well-being all the time,” declared Wen.
Wen’s comments follow the Biden administration Coronavirus vaccination mandate proposal, which aims to demand that all firms with one hundred full-time employees or more vaccinate or screen their staff one time per week. Joe Biden has also issued a management order forcing all federal staff to receive their COVID vaccinations without the alternative of frequent testing. Although many Republican leaders have questioned the magnitude of his decision, medical experts think the president has to take tougher measures to limit the virus’ latest outbreak.
Analyst Jonathan Reiner also weighed in on this issue. He believes that we all have a responsibility to keep those around us safe. If someone chooses not to get vaccinated, the consequences may be that their employer refuses to let them work in a place where their actions may put the public’s health and safety at risk.
This week, statistics from the US CDC indicated that an average of 1110 individuals died every day from the virus in the United States throughout the previous week. The greatest fatality rate since the beginning of March.
