A new study has discovered that unvaccinated people are 20 times more likely to lose their lives because of COVID-19 than those vaccinated. The research was conducted by the Texas government and used data gathered throughout the month of September.
The study was published by the Texas Department of State Health Services earlier this week and seems to further support the efficiency of vaccines.
It determined that 81.3 percent of all COVID-19-caused deaths that happened between September 4 and October 1 were unvaccinated patients.
Furthermore, 5 percent of those deaths occurred among partially vaccinated people, while 13.7 percent of deaths were fully vaccinated people.
Also in that same time frame, unvaccinated patients in their 40s were determined to be 55 times more likely to lose their lives to the virus than others in the same age group that were fully vaccinated.
As for those over the age of 75, if unvaccinated, they were 12 times more likely to pass away from COVID-19-related complications.
Not only that but, the same study also determined that unvaccinated people were 13 times more likely to catch COVID in the first place than those fully vaccinated.
Over 7 in 10 infected individuals were completely unvaccinated while 19.3 percent had received one dose of the vaccine and 8.4 percent were fully vaccinated.
Based on the lab results, the state immunization registry extended from January 15 to October 1 and all the death certificates, it was determined that Texas citizens were 4 to 5 times more likely to catch COVID or die from it amid the spread of the delta variant than they were before it.
Similarly, during that same time frame, unvaccinated people were 45 times more likely to catch the virus and 40 times more likely to die of complications related to the infection with it.
Around 85 percent of those who either caught COVID or died from it were not vaccinated.
The research done by the Texas government aligns with previous studies that have also proven the efficiency of the vaccines, including the ones conducted by the CDC.
Speaking of, data released by the CDC last month, showed that unvaccinated people were 6 times more likely to catch the virus and 11 times more likely to lose their lives to COVID-19 than those fully vaccinated.
