The Best Ways To Get Fit If You’re Super Busy

“New Year, New You” is a common phrase as January approaches. However, not all of these new resolutions will be achieved.

If you’re like most Americans, you probably spend more time in front of a computer or on your phone than moving around. These lifestyle habits can cause short-term fatigue and long-term health concerns.

Trying to change these patterns can be difficult and frustrating, but it’s not impossible. Here are some changes to consider making this year:

  • Stop sitting at work. It’s important to move throughout the day — whether you go for a walk outside, do chores around the office or find another way to break up your sedentary time.
  • Eliminate late night eating and drinking. Eating less after 6 p.m. will help you lose weight and improve your overall health. Avoiding alcohol altogether is even better since it can have negative effects on your sleep and add unnecessary calories to your diet.
  • Say no to sugar drinks. Soda, sweet tea and other sugar drinks are loaded with sugar and fat that can cause weight gain over time. Switching over to water or unsweetened tea will reduce how much sugar goes into your body and how much fat is stored in your fat cells over time.
  • Get up early. One hour of sleep lost is often equal to one hour gained of productivity, but what about one hour lost to exercise? Before you think this suggestion sounds impossible, consider that some people do it every day! Instead of watching TV or scrolling through social media at night before bed, wake up early and go for a run.
  • Use an online training app. Online training apps are great because they provide step-by-step instructions on how to do the exercises properly and safely, so there’s no confusion about how to do them correctly. They also provide motivation throughout your workout, so when times get tough, you won’t give up on them.
